They all fell. Some had screamed, other's bones did that for them. It was a slaughter.

And then I woke up in a bright medical room. My ears rang. I was blinded. All I could feel was the pain in my arm.

I could see figures moving around all over the place, maybe surprised at my awakening. Couldn't tell, couldn't care.

Slowly, my vision and hearing cleared. I looked around where I was. Curtains, machines. Metal where my arm was.

Had I lost my arm? Yeah, yeah I had.

A doctor rushed to my side. Male, petite. That's all I could tell from all the armor.

He stumbled as he came over, steadying himself. "How you feeling, Kline?"

"Like shit," I'd manage to get out through the pain. "What happened? How did I even end up here?"

"Bombshell. Got knocked out and your arm mangled," he'd pause for a long moment after.

"And?" I could tell he was wanting to say something.

"We'll cover that later. Let's just get you on your feet. Need you back on the field."

He'd help me out of the bed. I was drowsy from the endless amount of drugs they packed into me.

As we walked out, I could hear faint scramblings of a potential attack on the base.

"Two enemy MCVs were spotted outside the nearby KU base. Force of at least 100 mobile as well."

I shivered. The titans that were MCVs and their pilots alone could take over this base. Any of ours, even.
Eventually I was led into the armory. What was there was a few remaining PA-Mk4s, plus some worn down AK-74s.

I was helped over to the underclothing locker. I opened it and grabbed one of the remaining jumpsuits that were there.

"You fine alone?" The medic asked me.

"Yeah-- I should be." Just then he walked out.

I threw on the jumpsuit and headed over to the PA-Mk4 rack.

The PA-Mk4 was the standard issue armor set of the Oyhian Marines. Powered exoskeleton and advanced helmet. Highly reliable set of gear. Every bit that could be covered with armor was shielded with matte-black armor plates.

One thing it sucked at was being easy to put on. Several layers of shit.

Took me about 8 minutes or so to get the set on. It was akward to move around with the exoskeleton disabled as it was.

I waddled over to the power station next to the rack. I grabbed the charge wire and stabbed it into the aux port on the armor.

As quickly as I had plugged in the wire, the exoskeleton springed to life. My weakened body was jerked hard as the suit took over.

I'd now grab the helmet from the rack. Black like everything else, but with a blue, triangle-shaped sensor on the faceplate.

I'd slide it on. Instantly the HUD turned on. The light blinded me for a moment before my eyes could settle.

I'd rip the wire out now, heading towards the gun rack to gear up.

The alarms then had blared. The attack was actually coming.
